I was responsible for design and production of a number of album launches and promotional activities for Michael Bublé between 2009 and 2011. At the time, these were very innovative approaches to traditional music marketing leveraging multiple emerging technologies in totally new ways. This Xmas Album sold over 4,500,000 copies in the United States and over 3,000,000 copies in the UK alone.
We pioneered viral marketing techniques such as:
- Creating a Facebook app that allowed fans to send Xmas cards from Micheal via email to friends.
- Launching an interactive snow globe app that used the phones gyroscope to detect movement. The app contained a preview of the album and the ability to buy it directly.
- Various new album preview widgets and partnerships with large publishers to get the music in front of as many people as possible.
